Motion Design – Gesture
Project type
Motion Design Exploration
Date
2024
This project explores the expressive potential of hand gestures as a visual language. Starting from simple physical movements representing selected words, I developed a visual system that translates these gestures into graphic and animated forms.
Inspired by the Korean artist Kim Tschang-Yeul, I used the motif of water droplets as a symbol of clarity, renewal, and the cyclical nature of thought. The animation progresses from slow, deliberate motions to fast and fluid gestures reflecting the rhythm of decision making:
“Start slow, end fast, and return with clear thought.”
Through this process, I gained a deeper understanding of how motion, rhythm, and simplicity can communicate abstract concepts and emotions beyond words.
