Book Design –The Last Memory in Autumn

The Last Memory in Autumn is a material-led project that explores the relationship between memory, place, and temporality through fragile, natural elements.

Rooted in a personal memory connected to Naqsh-e Jahan Square, the project translates both cultural and emotional experiences into a spatial and visual language. By extracting geometric patterns from the site and reapplying them onto preserved autumn leaves, the work creates a dialogue between structured architectural systems and organic, time sensitive materials.

The process combines hand-drawn pattern development, digital refinement, and experimental printing techniques including UV printing, screen printing, and letterpress. These methods intentionally introduce imperfections such as fading, misalignment, and fragmentation which reflect the unstable and evolving nature of memory.

Material experimentation plays a central role, particularly through the preservation of natural leaves using glycerin, allowing them to retain flexibility while remaining vulnerable to decay. This balance between preservation and deterioration mirrors the act of remembering itself, where memory is never fixed but continuously shifting. Ultimately, the project resists the idea of permanence, instead proposing memory as something fragile, temporal, and materially embodied an experience that is held briefly before it inevitably disappears.
